Chapter 2 -- Micaiah's Story

Chapter 2 begins with a dramatization of 1 Kings 22:1-29 where the prophet Micaiah predicts Ahab's death at Ramoth-Gilead.  From Micaiah's experience we learn how the prophetic person is deeply dependent on the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

1. Read 1 Kings 22:1-29.  Micaiah was imprisoned after he delivered the words of Yahweh to Ahab.  He probably knew at the outset that this was likely to happen.  Did he have to prophesy?

2. The author uses the phrase, “…the spirit of prophesy kindled in his spirit…” to describe Micaiah’s experience of prophesying before King Ahab.  How does the concept contained in that phrase relate to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit experience?
