President Trump    This morning I was reading in 1 Corinthians 13.  I’ve heard all manner of endless sermons based on that chapter and so tend to be bored with it.  That’s a bad attitude and so am taking some notes and giving it my best.  When you read my note from this morning on verse 13 you will see that it certainly applies in a big way to all Americans.

    Here's my note for 1 Cor 13:7 –

believes all things – Gives the person being loved, especially fellow Christians, the benefit of the doubt.  But, it's more than that.  Love is looking at a person through eyes of faith, seeing them not so much for what they are, but for what God is doing in their lives.  Love sees potential!  Love believes!  Love wears glasses tinted by faith!

We can apply this today, especially when it comes to our attitude towards President Trump.  Far too many Christians have joined the rest of the world in condemning and complaining and picking at everything the president does or says.  Tell me, does that attitude display the kind of love showcased here in 1 Corinthians 13?  It is not so much that we are or must become supporters of President Trump. The President has proven himself to be fallible in oh so many ways.  But God has called us to love him!  Part of loving him includes "believing all things".  We are called to look at him through eyes of faith, not for what he is, but for what God can do with him.  If we apply that, then our attitude will change and we will be more in line with what God is doing in America (and using President Trump to get it done) than we are when we complain, and grouse and say all manner of evil things about the leader of our people.  We need to straighten up our act!
